About Akram

I have been practicing Matrimonial and Family Law since I graduated from law school. I know that attorneys' fees and litigation expenses can be costly on most people and that is why I keep my fees affordable. As a person whose parents are divorced I am aware of the stress of going through divorce proceedings and the amount of money that can be wasted on legal fees. While in law school, I dedicated my time representing low-income litigants at the school's legal clinic. My internships in law school focused on family law and domestic violence. For instance, I was an attorney for children on a change of paternal custody in family court and represented a mother in a child abuse proceeding. I also worked for a former federal prosecutor, Raymond B. Grunewald, where I handled all types of criminal cases from petit larceny to murder. During my early years as an attorney I took a position at a prominent Westchester Matrimonial and Family Law firm where I helped many people with high net worth divorce cases, custody, child support, alimony, orders of protection and other matrimonial/family law issues. I also dedicated my time at Queens Family Court giving legal advice to litigants who could not afford to hire an attorney. By volunteering in Family Court I learned what the Court looks for in every case. In 2011 I left the big firm life so I can start my own law practice and focus my time in helping members of my community. I am dedicated to my profession and will fight for you to obtain the best outcome I can get from opposing party or the Court.
