About Erin

Erin Kopelman is an attorney with Lerch, Early & Brewer's Family Law group. She handles cases involving domestic relations, including divorce, custody, child support, support for adult disabled persons, guardianship, domestic violence, property settlement, alimony, post-judgment issues, prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements. Erin credits her success to her ability to help clients find the most effective and efficient way to set and achieve their goals. She is a fierce advocate for those she represents, both in negotiations and in the courtroom. Licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia, Erin also has taken the 40-hour Maryland Divorce Mediation training. She is certified to practice collaborative law by the Department of Family Administration, Administrative Office of the Courts, Maryland Judiciary, the Maryland State Bar Association and the Collaborative Practice Training Institute. She is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, where she is the co-chair of the Family Law Section and a past chair of the section's continuing legal education programs. She also is the past chair of the Listserv for the Montgomery County Women's Bar Association and is an associate member of the Montgomery County Inns of Court. Prior to joining Lerch Early, Erin practiced law at a boutique divorce and family law firm in Montgomery County. She has volunteered as a child protection mediator in the District of Columbia, interned at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and mediated juvenile restitution cases in the 17th Judicial Circuit located in Broward County, Fla. Erin graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She received her Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she received the Pro Bono Honors award. Erin, the daughter of two Naval officers, enjoys playing violin, running and tennis. She is active in her local community, serves on her town's Community Relations Committee, and volunteers at numerous events, including chairing the town's annual bake-off.
