About Michael

It's not an uncommon thing at the RGLZ offices to catch a good earful of Michael Glass on the phone with his clients. He has a certain tendency to take as much time as is necessary to explain things to them, and an even stronger tendency to make absolutely sure that the phone call doesn't end until that client is satisfied with the explanation. It's just part of who he is. Michael Glass is always going to give you every bit of information you need to have. He also isn't the type to sugar-coat things, or dance around an issue. You're always going to get a 100% honest appraisal of things from him, and there's never any hesitation in it. It's the sort of sure handed delivery that comes from the confidence of a 30 year career. Michael Glass always seems to know the answer to every question. "Lawyers have to think in terms of elements necessary to prove a claim, and how those elements can be proven. Each element is like a key in lock, and when all the keys are in all the locks, and the locks are opened, the door opens to the injured plaintiff winning in court. Often, injured plaintiffs do not think of their case in these terms, and in most cases they can't be blamed for that. It's my job to make sure each client knows the elements of proof of their claim, and any challenges we may have in proving an individual element. Also, when speaking about damages, in significant cases, damages may be paid out in lump sums or through structured settlements over time. The client must be made aware of all their options when the case settles or resolves by verdict." It's also not uncommon to find that Michael Glass is the first person to arrive in the morning, and the last one to leave at night. It's like once he gets into his casework or trial prep, there's simply nothing else in the world that matters. He'll sit down with his files in a conference room, and work continuously from the moment he arrives until the moment he leaves, seemingly never taking breaks. It's a level of commitment to his craft that speaks volumes about the sort of attorney he is. All of this is on top of a body of knowledge which few can boast of having. When it comes to medical malpractice, nursing home, and other personal injury cases, Michael Glass is an industry leader. He is a regular lecturer for various New York State Bar Associations, and has had numerous seminar pieces published on a number of trial related subjects. What Michael enjoys the most about law though, is trial work. This is where his skills truly come to life. Even though the vast majority of personal injury recoveries come through settlements, Michael Glass always prepares every case as though it were going to trial. He is a fighter through-and-through, and is a staunch believer that sometimes taking a case to trial is the only way to ensure a suitable settlement offer or recovery. Without a doubt, Michael finds trial work the most rewarding and challenging aspect of his practice. "The most important lesson I have learned in 33 years of practice, is that there is no substitute for careful preparation of the case for trial. A trial is like producing a complex play, although the actors are the witnesses recounting the truth of their observations, and the stage is the courtroom. The lawyer needs to master the facts of the case, master the law that governs those facts, and then fully understand the medicine which proves the damages. In addition, the trial lawyer must cerebrate as to how present those facts in a powerful and compelling narrative. It is a human drama whose concluding lines are written by the jury." If you're looking for an attorney who will, without a doubt, give you the attention your case deserves, then Michael Glass is your man. You can depend on the level of honesty and commitment that Michael Glass is known for, as the countless people who Michael has recovered compensation for would attest to. Michael Glass has been litigating personal injury and medical malpractice cases for more than 30 years. He has been involved in many cases resulting in million and multimillion-dollar recoveries. Michael graduated magna cum laude from St. John's University (which he attended on a sports scholarship), with a 3.989 average. He thereafter attended St. John's University School of Law on a full academic scholarship. Michael graduated from St. John's Law School third in his class. During that time, he served as an editor of the St. John's Law Review, the school's law journal, and received the New York State Trial Lawyers' Louis Harolds Award for Excellence in the field of Tort Law. Michael has been a partner with RGLZ since 1988, and concentrates in the prosecution of complex personal injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse cases. He regularly lectures to other lawyers on a variety of personal injury topics for the various New York State Bar Associations. He has also published seminar pieces for the New York State Bar Association on several trial-related subjects. He was admitted to the bar in 1982, and is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Nassau/Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association. He and his wife Maureen, also a lawyer, have three children, including RGLZ Associate Christopher Glass.
